Sunrise Kiwanis Club, Goldsboro NC

Kiwanis is a golbal organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child at a time and one community at a time.  Our mission: To offer service and leadership opportunities to those who desire to serve the needs of children, youth and adults in our communities.  One of our programs is "Young Children Priority One" and through it sunrise Kiwanis has donated  a substantial amount of baby and young mothers-to-be products to the Wayne County Pregnancy Center of Goldsboro.  Shown above are Carlos Cotto, Past Lt. For more than 20 years, Sunrise Kiwanis in tandum with Goldsboro Recreation and Parks Department have sponsored Day-In-The-Park for disabled pople in the Wayne County area during May.  Participant come from the public schools, state institutions, and private care facilities.  This year the event drew 1100 from the surrounding area.  Below participants in the wheelchair race prepare at the starting line.

Sunrise Kiwanis has embarked on an exciting journey that celebrates the joys of reading with children by participating in the Read Around the World program. Kiwanians can provide reading activities, increase access to books, motivate, and inspire. There are many “Read Around the World” events that are sponsored by Kiwanis International.  One of the most recent Sunrise Kiwanis service project was participating in “Boo it Downtown” on Halloween night. Club Members distributed approximately 400 books and other educational materials suitable for children pre-school through forth grade. In addition club members supervised various games for the children. Sunrise Kiwanis Club subscribes to the Kiwanis International “Read Around the World.”
