Sunrise Kiwanis Meeting Notes 08-06-2008

Many thanks to Elaine Van Hoy and her committee for organizing the reverse drawing held on July 31st.  the club profit was $713.00

Steve Mitchell reminds everyone of the Golf Tournament to be held at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course on September 16th.  This is a Tuesday instead of the traditional Thursday because of the number of golf tournaments being held in September.  The club needs to work now to get both hole sponsors and teams.  This is the last major fundraiser the club has for this Kiwanis year.  Our support of local non-profits depends on our Foundation fundraising.

Scott Edwards reported that FEMA is currently reviewing the plans for the soccer complex that Sunrise and other local clubs are attempting to create.

Donna martin needs volunteers to attend the Thursday morning meeting of the Eastern Wayne High and CB Aycock High Key Clubs.  A signup will be passed next week.  In addition, club members are needed to attend the AKTION Club meetings.

Our guests today were Bryce Webber and our newly installed Honorary member Mayor Al King.

Louis Pate of the NC House of Representatives was our guest speaker today.  He focused on the potential rail transportation growth in NC and the need for and educated workforce.

Congratulations to Tim Lail on his wedding anniversary on Sunday.
